Main Function of Role:
Project specific discipline management of Mechanical, Electrical, ICA installation and construction for allocated projects.
Overview:
In support of the MandE Site Manager the Installation Supervisor will be responsible for Health Safety and Environmental matters for MandE related activities and ensuring that the MandE construction, installation and testing is delivered on site to meet the construction programme and is of an acceptable standard and is compliant with all applicable standards. Management of MandE subcontractors optimising value in delivery through standardisation, consistency and best practice and promoting Health Safety, Environmental and construction best practice.
To ensure a consistent and standard approach to the delivery of MandE activities and to ensure that the contractual, technical, quality and performance requirements are fulfilled .
Project Summary
The Viridor Waste Management/John Laing Infrastructure consortium have been appointed as the Preferred Bidder on the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority`s (GMWDA) waste services contract. In turn, Our Client is Viridor/Laing`s Preferred Design and Construct Contractor for the delivery of over £350m of investment in new waste infrastructure. This is a 3-4 year construction and engineering project around the Manchester area.
GMWDA`s agreed waste management strategy, for waste minimisation, is to ensure that 60% of waste is recycled or composted by utilising a combination of new technologies. Working in conjunction with our design partner (Scott Wilson) the following facilities will be constructed:
25 Household waste recycling centres (HWRC), 14 of which are existing facilities to be refurbished or extended, the remaining 11 will be newly constructed.
5 Mechanical Biological Treatment - Anaerobic Digestion (MBT-AD) facilities
4 In-Vessel Composting (IVC) facilities
2 Material Recovery facilities (MRF)
7 Transfer Loading Stations (TLS), to be newly constructed
2 Green waste Facilities to be constructed in newly constructed buildings
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Responsible for the management of Health and Safety on site with regard to the discipline MandE activities.
Responsibility to ensure that the SHE Procedures and Guidance Manual requirements are fully implemented for all MandE site activities.
Electrical Installation Supervisors to manage the Electrical Permit to Work System in line with agreed project requirements. The Installation Supervisor must hold a company letter of Authorisation to carry out this work.
Manage the construction, installation and commissioning activities on site to the project construction programme and budget
Management and implementation of the Permit to Work Procedures.
Provision of input to the MandE Package Managers look ahead programme.
Attend weekly progress meetings.
Along with the Project Manager conduct a daily reviews first thing every morning of the day`s work, method statements and associated risks.
Review and approval of Method Statements and Risk Assessments as applicable.
Ensuring that installation works are carried out in a safe manner to the appropriate Safe Systems of Work and to the approved method statements and risk analyses.
Carry out briefings and toolbox talks to subcontractors.
Carry out site inductions and maintain induction records.
Carry out delivery inspections of MandE equipment and materials and record the inspection results.
Management of MandE Subcontractors, in accordance with good practice and record accordingly.
Maintain date stamped Site Photographs of installation progress and issues.
Maintain daily site diary including, weather conditions, contractors and personnel working on site and activities taking place
Ensure that installation is of an acceptable standard and quality and that it complies with all relevant standards and that the associated test and inspection records are compiled and maintained by the installation sub-contractors.
Produce collate and manage all installation inspection, testing and completion documentation required for inclusion in the construction completion reports. Liaising as required with and Sub-contractor Commissioning Teams.
Ensure that all red line mark ups are being incorporated into the working drawings on site.
Provision of support to the commissioning function on site as required.
