An ambitious, dynamic and highly motivated Chartered Structural Engineer with post professional qualification experience is sought to assist in the management and development of the structural engineering business.

Working alongside an Associate Director, the role requires an accomplished communicator with the ability to influence, motivate and shape a team of civil and structural engineering consultants. With an interest in architecture, you shall be involved in all stages of building engineering projects from strategy evaluation and concept development to detailed design and contract administration.

As a senior member of staff your responsibilities shall include, but shall not be limited to the following:

oLeading people and work effectively and efficiently;
oLeading single and multi-discipline projects;
oProvide technical support and manage the technical accuracy and delivery of those below you;
oAssist graduate engineers and trainee technicians and develop their training toward Chartership;
oPromoting and developing multi-disciplinary working;
oDeveloping the group's working knowledge of Euro codes.
oAssisting the development of the group's technological approach and deployment on future projects;
oClient care and development;
oAssisting in the preparation of fee bids and submissions;
oPreparing project resource schedules;
oProject cost control and effective management of project resources; and
oGenerally helping the group in the development of vision, foresight and growth.

Qualifications:
oCEng (MIStructE an advantage but not necessary
oRelevant Engineering Degree (an advantage but not necessary)

Experience:

oApplicants must have relevant experience upon which to reflect their leadership of teams on major building designs. Ideally, they shall be experienced in all aspects of building engineering, being proficient in structural engineering with some experience of geotechnical engineering and building infrastructure design and detailing, and an appreciation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering.
oWith a technical background to support their experience, knowledge of RAM, CSC Building Designer and similar design/drawing interface packages would be of advantage, but IT literacy is essential. A good grounding as a general practitioner is also essential, capable of proving a history of design and detailing experience in all traditional materials.
oAs an aspiring Associate and an individual of high caliber, candidates shall have had sustained exposure to clients, designers, contractors and builders. Through the effectiveness of their technical management, the successful candidate shall develop these relationships and become more involved in the management of the business.
