The Medical Engineering Department is responsible for the maintenance, repair and management of medical equipment within the Trust, safeguarding both patients and users from any risk that may occur while using medical equipment.

The medical equipment maintained by the Medical Engineering Department varies in complexity that is from items that are Life critical, such as patient lung ventilators, anaesthetic machines, haemodialysis machines, through to other complex equipment such as infusion devices, defibrillators, patient monitoring to the low tech items, such as flow meters throughout the trust.





Your role as Medical Engineering Manager will be to head up the department for the Trust's Medical Equipment services. 





- To provide a senior professional managerial service on all engineering and related operational matters with direct responsibility for a professional and technical workforce, contract procedures, financial control budgets, training, patient safety and procurement.

- To be responsible for the maintenance of highly complex and specialist services and equipment for use on patients, and will represent the Estates Department to develop clinical services, appraise options and initiate actions, to ensure patient safety, comfort and care is not compromised.

- Lead, manage and motivate staff within the Department, ensuring that appropriate management structures, policies and practises are in place to achieve high levels of performance.





This is a permanent role, offered at band 7 (£29,789 - £39,273)

Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Experience in working within a hospital environment or equivalent work in a complex environment.

Must have detailed, highly developed specialist knowledge of all EME and operational services in an acute teaching hospital, gained through formal training and experience.
