My father and I are looking for someone to help out with light chores and to act as a 'buddy' for my father when I am away.

I'll explain...

My father had a stroke many years ago, and is paralysed on the left hand side of his body, and he is now permanently bedridden. He has been in care for the last 6 years and needs full-time care.

He is going home in three weeks, and I have arranged for carers to visit from the Social Services 4 times a day to attend to personal care, bed washing and cleaning, and to change his pads as he is unable to use the toilet,

I will be living with my father (from the 1st November) and will attend to all his other needs around the clock, like making breakfast, lunch and dinner, and providing him with drinks and whatever else he needs.

However, I will want to go and visit my daughter as often as I can and she lives 2 hours away.

As we have a spare room in the house, I thought it might be an idea to offer this a free accommodation to someone who may require somewhere to live, in return for 'being there' for my father when I need to go away. I am looking for someone (preferably) who has experience with the elderly, or at least some experience of care. I would also like references if possible.

In return for free accommodation I would ask that you spend two consecutive days at the house, with my father, and attend to very basic needs, such as providing breakfast, lunch and dinner, drinks, and a listening ear as required. All the personal care will be done by the carers. You will NOT have to do any of this, or any bathing, or personal care, unless absolutely necessary. (in an emergency only)

If you do need to leave the house on the days I am away, I will expect that you are contactable by mobile phone, and will return immediately should my father require anything.

Mostly I will require you to just 'be around' and make sure that you are at the house all day, and night for two consecutive days/nights (say Monday day, Monday night, Tuesday day, Tuesday night – for example) This can be agreed between ourselves.

You will not have to pay any bills, or any other costs, and likewise I will not pay you any other money for doing anything for my father. Your 'reward' for this 'work', is FREE ACCOMODATION and BILLS INCLUSIVE.

On the other five days of the week, you are free do as you choose. If you want to take other employment, that will be entirely up to you. Also, it may be possible for you to claim benefits and not work, although I will need to look into this. You will also have full run of the house and you will be able to come and go as you please. I will not expect you to do anything on the other five days each week. I will do everything else.

You may be looking for somewhere to live, somewhere quiet where you can make a fresh start. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is looking for a quick and simple, cheap solution for accommodation.

The house is a little cottage in Lymm, in Cheshire. It has recently been refurbished to high standards, and has all mod cons, - central heating, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave etc.. You will also have access to the Internet and a computer of your own if you don't already have one.

Lymm is a lovely quiet village, and the area is very pleasant to live in. There is a little village within walking distance, with plenty of decent shops, and the town of Warrington is easily accessible by bus.

Warrington has plenty of opportunities for work, and if you want work in Care, I can point in the direction of an agency I used to use.
